• It takes 20% less air pollution and 50% less water pollution to create a bottle from a recycled material, than from raw materials.

• Anchorage residents diverted 21,584 tons of waste from the landfill through recycling valuable resources.

• The energy saved from recycling one aluminum can will run your television for three (3) hours.

• There are about 1,000 milk jugs and other bottles in a recycled plastic park bench!

• The average person in North America uses 250 kg of paper each year. If they recycled it, each person would save about 4.6 average-sized trees.

One-Stop Event a Success!

If you were one of the many Girdwood Residents who participated in our first One-Stop Recycle Event on Saturday, February 10, we want to say Thank you! Many recyclers expressed appreciation for the One-Stop event and enthusiasm for future recycling events. Recycle Girdwood will continue to partner with ALPAR and Green Star to plan future events for the Girdwood valley. Stay tuned!
